Owner Sonny Tillman has been serving the same Southern barbecue and fixings since 1968. A common roadside stop, Sonny's offers low prices and barbecue; roomy booths, wagon-wheel chandeliers and homey craft art are the standard dining room decor. House barbecue sauce, available sweet, regular or hot, spices up large helpings of smoked beef, pork, chicken, turkey and ribs. Sides like fresh fried okra, onion rings and barbecue beans complement the entrees.

Best Homemade Burgers!!

I am a fan of there homemade burgers!! I drive across town to get them. However, to-go orders takes awhile.

just the basics

Sonny's is average. I had a good meal there, but didn't feel it was anything special. However, my wife really enjoyed the ribs. Althought nothing super special, it is good solid BBQ, so I would go back.

• Pros: good value, good ribs
• Cons: sliced beef was average

Great place for bbq

Even though I prefer the taste and price of Podnuh's, this place is a close second. The food is always hot and has a unique flavor despite the fact that it's a chain. Main drawback is that it's a hike for most people in Baton Rouge.
