Horrible food horrible service

by lamamama

Don't go. Horrible food that tastes like it is a few days old and recycled. The buffet food at 11am was cold as ice. What's wrong with those staff people there, they never ever smile and I've been going for about 4 yrs. and I've yet to see an inkling of a smile. Well today is my very last time going to eat over there, as the food and service were all around horrible. They don't even deserve one little star.

  • Pros: zero
  • Cons: stale food and bad service

Getting worse and worse...

by fudisgr8

Thai Kitchen used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge, but since they have expanded, the quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up. They even charge you now for each additional cup of rice to accompany your meal.

The furniture is absolutely gorgeous, but it was not designed for comfort.

The service at Thai Kitchen has not been good for a long time and we were even told once that if we didn't sit in the smoking section, we wouldn't be seated, even though many tables were still open in the non-smoking area. Is that even legal?

I keep trying to give it another chance, but I think I'm done. I'll just keep going to the other 2 Thai restaurants in Baton Rouge (Rama or Thai Pepper) where the food is great and reasonably priced and the customer service is much better.

BAD, BAD, BAD

by ziggymvp

I think this place is highly overrated. My coworkers always want to go here, but I refuse to go back. They think that if you cover your food in the spicy sauce, it is good. I could easily just drink on a bottle of tabasco and eat a cardboard box. Save yourself the trouble of being charged extra, and go around back and grab a cardboard box

Sam is the greatest

by MartinLanneau

I love this place, Great food and of course you get to mingle with Sam! Sam is the greatest guy I have met in a long time. He is very friendly with the ladies and loves to charge your credit cards an extra digit. I like the buffet because it is fast and cheap. The spice tray is spicy but Sam is even spicier! Make sure you get a toothpick at the register and ask Sam where the rootbeer candy went.

If you go there, don't eat the rice...

by andyaccount

If you want to try Thai food, it's a unique place to go for. But once you read these facts, you might have the second thought about going to Thai Kitchen. The service is ok, don't get me wrong. The management is worst. The food came out all wrong or before the appt. or soup due to lack of communication in the kitchen. The food is also expensive. And please DO NOT ASK for additional stuff or special order, you will be charged with a ridiculous price. The owner is all about the money. DO NOT ASK for extra rice because you will have to pay for it. If you have any rice left over, DO EVERYONE ELSE a BIG FAVOR, either try to finish them all or pour the sauce all over them...Because the servers are forced to recycle and dump it back into the rice cooker. Then it will be used to serve other customers. Does it sounds like you go there and pay money to eat SOMEONE ELSE "LEFTOVER". I also agreed with the previous comment about the owner is a pervert. I also think that he evaded tax and treated employees poorly. These are just some of my opinions and facts that I gathered by working there. If you dont believe me, go eat there and see it yourself.

P.S.

The servers who work there: only getting pay $2.15 an hour, have to do sideworks such as cleaning the restroom and vacuuming the entire restaurant, getting bad tips from customers due to bad service "not entirely their faults", and have to tip out to the chefs in the kitchen, bartender and sushi chefs. Oh man, it is not the end yet. They also have to pay the owner a fee for credit card service. I would not recommend anyone to work there either.

THANK YOU FOR READING MY REVIEW.

PREVIOUS EMPLOYER

by ohyess

I HAVE WORKED THERE FOR 6 MONTHS AND I MUST SAY, THE FOOD IS GOOD BUT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE HOW IT WAS PREPARED. THE KITCHEN LOOKS HORRIBLE. WITH THE KITCHEN BEING SO HOT AND THE COOKS SWEATING OVER THE STOVE ALL NIGHT, I COULDN'T TELL YOU THAT PERSPIRATION DIDN'T DRIP IN IT. SOMETIMES THE USE DAY OLD RICE TO REHEAT AND RESERVE. THE MANAGER (SAM) IS A PERVERT! LADIES, DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTERS WORK THERE IF THEY ARE ATTRACTIVE. I WAS TOLD BY HIM THAT IF I WASN'T ATTRACTIVE I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN HIRED. I QUIT ON THE SPOT. NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, SOMETIMES HE WOULD WALK BY AND "ACCIDENTLY" TOUCH ME JUST TO COP A FEEL. I WAS 18 AT THE TIME. I'M NOW 22 AND I STILL HEAR OF THE SAME INCIDENTS BY FRIENDS AND CURRENTLY RESIGNED EMPLOYEES.

Don't go on Friday nights

by nolazach

I came in with five people. Resturant was not crowded, took 15 minutes to sit. Another 15 for drinks, another 10 to place orders. Food took an hour to come out, appetizers came out with entrees. Most of which was wrong, I am always leery when servers don't write it down. My pork was pink in the center. We only got refills on water and tea. Server never checked on us. My crown that I ordered when my entree came out finally came out with the check. Table nexed to us walked out after their drinks took 15 minutes to come out, we stuck it out. I rather wish I hadn't. I asked for manager server failed to get him so I failed to leave a tip. Food was ok, nothing secial, pork was unedible, complaints not heard, so I was stuck. Took two hours total, and missed my movie

  • Pros: Spring Rolls, Nice looking tables
  • Cons: Bad Service, Bad Service, Bad Service

One of my Favorites!

by katerinamaria

I've been going to the Thai Kitchen for years and I always love it there. They have a nice buffet for lunch Monday through Friday. It's inexpensive and has all my favorites. I would also reccomend going for dinner. It's great for a family meal or even a dinner for two. The portions are large, and you can order several dishes to share family style. My favorites are the Chicken Coconut Soup, Pad Thai, and Green Curry. You need to try the spring rolls and a Thai Iced Tea with your dinner too. They recently have added a sushi bar as well, but I haven't tried that yet, so I can't give any feedback yet. The only downside I can see is that it's closed on Sundays.

  • Pros: Great Food, Nice Buffet, Good for Carry-out
  • Cons: Closed on Sundays

what a place

by muff23

Everything on the menu is superb except the mango with sweet rice; pronounced mano wit swe ri! Ordered that on accident not knowing what the waitress was talking about. Anyway, I live in Houston, where there are tons of thai, vietnames, and chinese restaurants, but not one as good as the Thai Kitchen.

  • Pros: appetizers, inexpensive, great happy hour
