One of our favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge. Great atmosphere and even better service. The food has always been excellent. Highly recommended for a very nice dining experience.
BEST in Baton Rouge. We got there with no reservation on a Saturday night and had a table in about 10min. The food was excellent and the staff was terrific. This was a great experience and we will definitely be back. My steak was so tender I cut with my fork and it melted in my mouth. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Busy and Expensive but Good.
A warming - Flemmings is very busy on the weekend. My husband and I had reservations on a Saturday but when we got there, they said that we would still have about an hour wait. We were not willing to wait when we had confirmed reservations and almost did not come back (I have heard this complaint from others, so perhaps they need to be more accurate with their reservation scheduling).
I don't think I would ever go back on the weekend. Luckily we came back on a weeknight and the results were much better.
We found the staff to be quite attentive yet not overly so. Just the right level for the type of place and price level. A lovely starter of cheese spread, tapinade and crudite was delivered and we were given time to make our choice. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly - a rare thing (no pun intended) in the restaurants I've tried. The sides we got were also good. The homemade bread was the best I'd ever had in a restaurant - crisp on the outside but chewy on the inside. We have been a few times now and the food has never disappointed.
Flemmings is not a cheap night out, especially if you want wine with your dinner (it IS a wine bar as well as a steakhouse!) so expect a decent dent in the wallet. I never mind the occasional splure if the food is worth the price and in my opinion, Flemmings IS worth the price.
Prime beef, a comfortable atmosphere and an extensive, user-friendly wine list are the signatures of this upscale steakhouse..
In Short
With a decor of dark wood, leather upholstery and soft lighting, this clubby steakhouse has a warm, upscale feel. The menu's focus is prime beef (aged up to four weeks), from bone-in rib eye and filet mignon to New York strip drizzled with bearnaise sauce. Classic seafood offerings include lobster tails, steamed crab legs and wild Alaskan salmon; sides, served a la carte, include baked potato and chipotle mac and cheese.
definitely best steak in baton rouge. Fleming's definitely serves the best prime steak in Baton Rouge. Everything else about the restaurant is just as impressive; service, atmosphere, etc. From the moment you walk in the door, you are treated as a customer should be. The side dishes are very generous. We loved everything and have no complaints!
Best steaks and professional servers in Baton Rouge,LA. Love it! This was my 3rd visit to the Flemings in Baton Rouge, LA and once again a wonderful and memorable fine dining experience. Being a female fairly often steakhouses feel as if they are geared towards men, not Flemings, it feels comfortable for both men and women. The steaks have been cooked to my desire, top quality meat and seasoned to create a wonderful flavor. The waiters have always well versed on the numerous wines and menu. The atmosphere is upbeat and decor is glamorous. Steakhouses in this city are odd: Ruth's Chris is stuffy, dated and steaks are just seasoned with with butter, Sullivan's is rowdy/night club atmosphere and service is lacking. Flemings in this city is exceptional even compared to others in New Orleans and in other well known cities I travel to for business and vacations. Enjoy!!
Not great. This place is just not that great. I could see taking a business meeting to Flemings. Beyond that the food is not great. The service is average. It is decorated well beyond that not much. Just expensive to be expensive. I had dinner the night before at Galatoires. It was cheaper there than at Flemings. Get real this place is ok, but just not worth it.
Had to wait an hour and I had a reservation.. Don't get me wrong the food was great, but I didn't appreciate having to wait an hour for a table considering I had a reservation. Service is very good. Steaks are good, although a little on the rare side. It's very pricey but I knew that before going. Overall, considering price, ambiance, and quality, I prefer Sullivan's or Ruth Chris.
Best fine dining in Baton Rouge.
This is by far, the best steak in Baton Rouge. Huge portions (of everything), and cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere is outstanding. Feels like a private club.
Most importantly, the service is perfect. Baton Rouge suffers from a disease: terrible service. Most restaurants have very young college students as wait staff. They don't know what they're doing, and worse, they could care less. If you really tip based on service, don't expect to spend much in this city. Fleming's is one of the few exceptions. The wait staff has clearly been groomed for service... they just don't do anything wrong. I'd expect this type of service in New York or Vegas, but not in Baton Rouge. The staff alone will keep me coming back for years.
