It's a shame......
This place used to be one of my favorite places until a recent visit.
I was outside having a smoke with my beer when I was watching the bouncer not let people in because of a "dress code" like Carla mentions but I personally witnessed and heard Mike Labat (the owner) tell the bouncer to not let the "black people" because there are "too many inside."
And the bouncer smiled, laughed, and agreed with Mike and they knew I heard them because Mike smiled and laughed it off while walking away. Then the doorman didn't let people in not because they didn't meet the dress code, he wouldn't let them in because they were black. He told them that they didn't meet the dress code and got the rentacops to remove them from the front of the building.
Are you serious?
What kind of bar does this and how are the owners still in business???
How are you removing people from a public sidewalk with rentacops?
Seriously man, it's 2011 and people can't come in because they're black? There has to be something that can be done because of this and I would love for the ACLU and the African American community to get rid of racist scumbags like Mike Labat and his overrated, overpriced sports bar.
So if want to go out and have a good time in downtown Baton Rouge, you would be better off going to Roux House, The Office, or Happys because the girls are actually hot and the staff aren't racist bastards like the employees of Punchers Sports Bar.
