Mo HairDissapointment. I was highly dissapointed. I recently moved back to Baton Rouge and I wear my hair in a short/Rhianna-type style. Since my hair is short, there is a smaller margin of error. I'd heard good things about Mo Hair but was dissapointed by the 2 hr wait for a wash and trim. My hair was styled nicely but the products dried my hair out and my trim had unintentional uneven parts and a weird longer piece in the back. But it was styled nicely, so if you're looking for a cute style for a special occassion, go for it. If you're looking for a cute cut that you can maintain for a couple of weeks until the next visit, move on. I give it a poor rating because you can go to a beauty college and get a good style; precision cuts and quality hair care are harder to come by.
Great & Comfortable Environment. Joan is very professional in her business relationships. I can only imagine this transcends to her clientele. I have watched clients come with difficult problems and always leave with a SMILE. She is always willing to share her knowledge and open to new ideas. She is wonderful to work with and I always look forward to our power marketing conversations. Thanks Joan!!
An experience worth talking about.
Well, when I arrived at this salon, there were stylists there who seemed as if they were crowding my space and they all wanted to see what I needed. I admit that some were a little more aggressive in their approach than I am used to receiving, but nonetheless, I knew there intent was good.
I needed a consultation for extensions and when I met my stylist who was going to perform the service, she was very sincere and passionate about my current condition and what I desired for my hair. I showed Joan a picture of what my hair used to look like. But because I underwent chemotherapy, a lot of my hair had fallen out as a side effect of my treatments. I was very insecure and uncomfortable initially, but Joan was very sensitive to my needs and instantly made me feel comfortable. They even had a private area in the salon to do my hair. That let me know that I wasn't on any kind of "display" and that the salon had a respect for my privacy and insecurity.
After the services were complete, I could not believe what I had seen! Much to my amazement, not only had Joan made me beautiful again (in my eyes), but she styled my hair in a way that was immaculate!! Too thrilled and excited, I was about to take a picture with my camera phone to send to my family so they could see right away, but Joan said to wait and she took the picture with her camera and allowed me to email it to my family using one of the computers in the salon.
I have never experienced a salon who took such a generous and gentle approach to satisfying my needs for my hair and I could not have found a better place to take care of my needs in such a time like this in my life. I love you Joan!! You are so awesome!
Don't waste your time and money.. This was the worst beauty salon that I have ever entered, and I'm 42 years old. There are nasty looking men there who were trying to get my phone number and the owner says nothing. The owner has some new love interest and they discussed their bedroom life while I was in the chair. Very unprofessional! The entire team is lacking basic beauty skills, except maybe the hair braider. I went in for hair weaving and some unknown person was there video taping the entire thing without my permission. I told the owner that I did not give my consent to be videotaped and she ignored me. My hair looked so bad when I left my sisters couldn't stop laughing at me. I had to have my hair redone that same day because it was horrible. The owner knew I was not happy with the entire situation and she made it known that I wasn't going to be reimbursed or anything. She told me I could have one of those ugly t-shirts and keep quiet.
Weave too tight. My stylist was very nice. However, after telling her and the braider that I have a sensitive scalp, they continued hurting the hell out of me. Now my scalp is pussing around the edges and nape of my hair. This is a major problem because this part of my hair was finally growing wonderfully. Doesn't go to this overpriced place because you do not get talent that corresponds to the price. Joan should lower her prices considering, she has to teach each person how to do hair. She should call Mo Hair a school and charger hair school prices!
Very bad hair experience at this salon. I had a very bad experience at this salon. When I arrived at the salon the lady that was scheduled to do my hair decided that she had more important things to do and was unable to do my hair. Therefore, I waited for awhile. Then the lady who was a technician came over to me and took out my sewn in weave. Afterwards, this other lady put in the phyto specific which is suppose to be a non chemical relaxer. Well, after the pain that I experienced while the weave was being removed this non chemical relaxer actually burned my hair. I was told that this relaxer was not suppose to burn. I noticed the next morning that a lot my hair was broken off. I called the Mohair salon the next day and the hair stylist, who put the relaxer in my hair acknowledge that she saw the breakage. However, she did not tell me of this breakage until I brought it to her attention. She later told me that she would discuss my isues with the owner and returned my call later. Well I never received a returned phone call. Therefore, I wrote the owner an e-mai requesting some on my money back. She responded with an apology and suggested that I returned in 72 hours for treatment. She did not mention anything about my money being returned to me. I later wrote her back stating that I felt her hair stylist had shown very little courtesy and concern for me as a customer. Well after this e-mail, I did not hear from her again. It is obviously that this salon does not care about its customers or their hair. This was my first time and I will never returned there again.
Over priced under talented.
Twice I visited Mo Hair salon and both times were a big disappointment. The first time were for braids to rest my hair. After paying $300 for the style of choice, I looked like a circus lion. I was told by the stylist that the hair would fall into place after it loosens a bit. Two weeks later I removed the weave extensions and wore my hair which was braided into a circle under wigs for the remainder of winter.
The second time, a friend told me all new stylist were at the salon since it's move and this particular girl was it for braid styles. I decided to take my daughter in and after $200 for her, it was the same thing
First of all they try to cram too much tracked hair into the style and secondly, the girl did not know how to incorporate the braids over the sewn in parts. "The Joan" took the ends of my daughter hair and tried to make it like a headband to separate the braids from the tracks and after 6 long hours, it was still a mess. Both times I was charged a massive amount of $$$ for styles that some school girl would have done alot better for a lot less.
Take my advice, unless you are a male looking to get dredds STAY AWAY FROM MO HAIR!!!
Hair Extensions. I thought there was nothing that could be done about my hair after a bad haircut and fried perm I was recommended to Mo Hair and I met The Joan she is a miracle worker she helped me choose the exact color and texture I was trying to achieve. My hair extensions are great I am so happy. I will look stunning for my wedding. I will send all my friends to The Joan @ MO Hair . If you are even thinking about extensions MO Hair is the place.
