Sunny Farms - charming and great party place. I have had several parties at Sunny Farms and my children beg to go back every year. They love all of the kid friendly animals and activities: pony rides, petting goats, a llama, & a giant rabbit; a hay ride, tire swings, a treasure hunt, and their favorite: a scavenger hunt during the nature hike in the woods. I love that Mrs. Jane takes care of EVERYTHING and I actually get to relax & enjoy my child's party. I could tell she is a teacher because of her great rapport with the children. My boys love Mrs. Jane because she always makes them feel special. I highly recommend Sunny Farms.
Kids love it! Parents are put off by how rude the owner is!.
1st off, this is a great idea for the kids..something really different. But my 1st bit of advice is to book more time. We weren't through eating cake and unwrapping presents, and the RUDE farm lady was packing us up and moving us out! I had presents in the car that was unopened! All the parents loved the idea of the party, something different, but they also commented on how RUDE the lady was! It truley made me uncomfortable. After spending that much money for a party, that I can just sit and enjoy...I did not. Also, they have a pet cat just roaming around...around the table where our food was put out! gross
That being said, the children really did love the party!
SUNNY FARMS is the best!!!!!.
As a mother of two ( 9 yrs. and 3 yrs) I've attended and hosted my share of parties. Each year I feel so exhausted and relieved when the party is finally over, but NOT THIS YEAR.....Sunny Farms and Mrs. Jane were AWESOME!!! Everything, from what to bring, what not to bring, how to dress, unloading supplies from your car to loading them back afterwards and all the events (hayride, pony/horse ride, feeding animals, petting animals, tire and rope swing, cake, presents, etc ) in between were so meticulously organized and STRESS FREE. Mrs. Jane mans a tight ship, but the children and parents had a great time at my son's party. You can tell that Mrs. Jane has been hosting parties at Sunny Farms for a long time, and that she enjoys her work..this is a biggee...SHE ENJOYS WHAT SHE IS DOING, AND IT SHOWS!!!!! She interacts with the children so well. During the hay ride, she told them a story to get them ready for the scavenger hunt in the woods.... so kid friendly, uses teachable moments, and kind. (Even the parents were 'drawn in')
I was able to mingle with the parents, and 'play' with my chid during the party. I was able to get all those 'scrapbook' picture moments and even be is some pictures.... I will definitely return to Sunny Farms.
Urban farm fun.
After having attended a birthday party at Sunny Farms, I would have to highly recommend the experience to all my friends and to readers. Where else can you go in B.R., or surrounding areas for that matter, and experience farm fun. There are horse and ponies and goats, oh my! Add a rabbit the size of buffalo and you have quite the petting arena. Not only are there animals, but outdoor activitieslike a nature trail, a good old fashioned tire swing and a large shaded pavillion, complete with rafter fans to chill out under. This is also where the cake cutting and singing take place.
Having spent years on a farm, I don't get the thrill that kids who have never been exposed do, but it brings back fond memories. I recommend a party just so the kids who have never ridden a pony, or been on a hay ride or a hike thru' the woods will at least will have done so once in there lives.
It's not all good tho', it can be habit forming. ;-)
Excellent Party Choice, Sunny Farms. I have known the Sunny Farm Lady for seven years. I have attended parties as a guest and as a paying customer. I find the the farm to be a country wonderland for children. There are rules, however, that are explained and repeated before the party ever begins. The parties are geared for entertainment of the children and for the safety of the children. The operative word here is children. Adults are asked not to smoke and have to follow the same rules the children have to follow. Don't expect the rules to be bent or arrive with the notion that rules apply to everyone else. The rules of safety apply to everyone. The Farm Lady is engaging and extreemly knowlegeable with the children. She has a wide variety of animals and opportunities for the children to engage the animals. You get a horse or pony ride, hay ride and nature hike. You get to feed goats and pet the giant rabbit. It is a ton of stuff you get to do. How cool is that? The parties are two hours and know that there is a party before and after yours. But that isn't a problem. The setting is so adorable that you don't need to add any extra decoration. She even has these giant wheeled carts to haul your stuff. She is not angry or mean. Now, she does not kiss parents behinds so don't think that will ever take place, but she is funny and warm with the kids. She is a school teacher by trade so her organization and class control are an asset to her planning. I have had several parties and a family reunion at Sunny Farms. I am also going back in February to have my daughter's 6th birthday party. My daughter LOVES the Farm Lady and just rode out to the farm to see her baby goats. My boys now 13 and 10 also have had their parties out there. All without any problems. No place is perfect and no establishment is ever going to make all it's clients happy every time but I highly reccomend Sunny Farms to anyone who wants a fun, real farm experience.
charming little farm / abrupt and calous farm lady.
Sunny Farms is a charming little farm. Birthday party includes hay ride, nature trail with a fun slide at the end, horse or pony ride, feeding the animals, petting the giant rabbit, play time on the tire swing, and ends with cake and ice cream/ present opening. BEWARE, HOWEVER, OF THE FARM LADY! Her cynical attitude radiates from her. She has a tight schedule to run and damn those three year olds if they do not listen the first time!!! She nearly ripped my three year old daughter's arm off when she stepped into the gated pony area before the other child was off the pony. (I understand the need for safety around the pony, but it was REALLY uncalled for and over the top!! ) Then when it was time for the children to wash their hands, my daughter turned the water off after she washed (that's normally a good thing to remember to turn the water off, right?) NO! The farm lady slapped her hand away and yelled,"Leave it the way it was!!" OK , All you have to say is,"There is a child behind you. Please leave the water running for him!" My little girl is three years old and an obedient child at that!!!! This lady has a well organized and really precious party idea going, but she really needs stop with the terrrible attitude! Several moms and dads were discussing this after the party. She seems to not really like children. Anyway, if you can manage to have tough skin and ignore the cynical attitude that radiates from the farm lady... then it's a fun time. Oh, I saw her yell at a mom that wanted to take a picture of her child on the pony. Too late, mom, you should have taken the picture when the pony was walking up. NEXT!!!
The farm is great, but the farm lady needs to hire a couple more people to be her helpers and relax...stop being down right mean to her littlest guests.
