What People Are Saying About Captain D's Seafood

In Short – What started off in Donelson, Tenn. as "Mr. D's" in 1969 has evolved into fast food chain "Captain D's" with restaurants across more than 20 states. Touting high quality and quick-service seafood and traditional Southern fare as its mission, the menu offers hand-battered fried, baked, broiled fish, shrimp and chicken dishes. Starters include cheese sticks and jalapeno bites, seafood-stuffed crab shells and side items like corn, baked potato, coleslaw, tossed salads, hushpuppies and desserts.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Dieters will be happy to discover the "Lighter Fare" menu with options like the bite-size shrimp salad.
- The Extras:
- Some restaurants also offer clam strips, oysters, flounder and catfish, and other seasonal specials.
- Save Money:
- Opt for the 10-piece fish value pack or the 12-piece Seafood Feast, which comes with shrimp, crab shells and sides.
closed, but not forgotten

We ate at this restaurant for well over 20 years. They are now closed. We miss them so much! We loved to visit Valerie and Stephanie and get our Captain D's "fix". They knew our entire family. After they left, the restaurant was not the same. It went down fast. Just yesterday on our vacation we visited a Captain D's in Pensacola, FL and it was as great as we remember! They still greet you with a hello the minute you walk in the door!
Bad Service and No Professionalism

2 Stars are for the good food ONLY! The service and professionalism at this Captain D's is LACKING. During my recent visits to the chain restaurant I observed several employees on their cell phones, 1 female employee behind the counter talking about needing a raise, Loud rap music coming from the kitchen, several employees eating (bread sticks) and drinking behind the counter, very slow getting orders out, and the girl taking my order couldn't remember a simple drink without asking me 3 times. They also fixed my order incorrectly and the guy in the kitchen argued about it with the girl that took my order (it was his fault).
IF YOU MUST VISIT CAPTAIN D'S (drive-thru or inside) BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH THE FOOLISHNESS.
I don't know what the policies are at the Captain D's but they need to be enforced. Otherwise this seems like a great party place to work for.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Service and Professionalism
