There was nothing romantic about it, you had to seat yourself, dig your silverware and napkin out of a glass on the table and wait several minutes just to get a menu. We waited 20 minutes for the waitress to clear our plates. The food was not worth the price I paid. I could have gotten an 8 oz steak at chain restaurant rather than paying 14.50 for a peice of flattened porkloin that was more breading than pork. I had to put the potatoe salad on the porkloin to give it flavor. Coming from a German family I know what the dishes should have some flavor. The whole experience was completely dissapointing. Also reservations were suggested on the online review, but the restaurant does not take reservations
AUTHENTIC GERMAN FOOD - AT ITS BEST. Fantastic little restaurant in downtown Baton Rouge, specializing in authentic German food. The owner and chef hails from West Germany and has brought with her the favorite dishes from the old country. The restaurant is small and as such they place their emphasis on quality, rather than quantity. Being a small place, reservations are recommended. Try the varied selection of German beers not normally seen here locally, and the Tuscany Peasant Sandwich (fantastic); and do not forget the Hungarian Goulash (to die for)! You will not be disappointed at this real jewel of a restaurant!
