Incompetent Management. We used It's My Party for our son's birthday party recently, and were generally satisfied with the facilites and staff. However, because of the incompetence of the management we ended up paying an astonishing $40 / child instead of the expected $20 / child.

Like most of these birthday party facilities It's My Party has a minimum number of children included in any package--16 children. Over the years, we have had many birthday parties for our two kids, and know the rules. That's why we only sign up with a facility when we know we can meet the minimum. If parents RSVP that they can't come, we invite other kids to fill they're spaces. Our problem at It's My Party is we were misled into thinking they provided RSVP service when actually they don't.

Here's how it works. Your package price includes invitations in the form of postcards that you can give or mail to your guests. The postcards provide generic information about the location, as well as party-specific information about the name of your child and the date and time of the party. There are also instructions for guests to log on to a website to sign a waiver. There is no information given to the party parents that if we want RSVP information we need to specifically request it--they're willing to add your RSVP telephone number if you ask, but don't tell you about this option. BECAUSE RSVP INFORMATION IS SO IMPORTANT TO FULLY UTILIZING THE FACILITIES, and because THEY COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT ATTENDANCE at their website, we assumed RSVP information would be given to us in a timely manner to adjust our guest list. As a result we ended up paying the full party price for 8 kids instead of for 16. Our son was disappointed that more friends didn't get to attend his party, and we were outraged at the refusal of the owners to acknowledge they're partial responsibility for this mishap. Any business can make mistakes in their reservation system. But don't hold your breath for this business to own up to their errors.
